눈물, 덧없는 눈물이 왜 흐르는지 모르겠네
어떤 신성한 절망의 심연에서 흐르는
가슴에서 솟아올라 눈에 고인다
행복한 가을 들판을 둘러보고
다시 오지 않을 그날들을 생각하니

수평선 너머로 친구를 실어 오는 돛단배 위에
반짝이는 첫 햇살처럼 새롭고
사랑하는 모든 이를 싣고 해면 아래로 져가는
배 위를 붉게 물들인 마지막 햇살처럼 슬픈 것
너무나 슬프고 새롭다, 가버린 그날이여


tears, idle tears, i know not what they mean
tears from the depth of some divine despair
rise in the heart, and gather to the eyes
in looking on the happy autumn-fields
and thinking of the days that are not more

fresh as the first beam glittering on a sail
that brings our friends up from the underworld
